What intervention strategies are being used? |
|||||
All pupils are provided with their target levels, based on FFT data from KS2. This is used as a base reference by which progress is measured. It is also used as a reference fore highlighting thge need for intervention/support strategies.
Year 8 results are analysed and from these the intervention group (5 borderline) are identified. In 2005/2006 the data was also used to identify four target groups; level 4 and below, intervention, underachieving and extension pupils. These pupils are removed from one Science lesson week on a 5 weekly rotating carousel and are either help to catch up or are extended.
Booster lessons are run from January for Year 9, one class for the intervention group (4/5) and one aimed at the level 5/6/7.
In the four weeks before the SATs the Year 9s are split into levelled groups so that their revision can be better targeted.
Year 9s have a differentiated revision work book that is strategy based. This is kept in school but it is also used as a regular homework exercise or as cover work whilst the teacher is away.
