What planning arrangements have been made for Year 10 choices for Year 11?

The arrangements for the Spring Term are provided below:

Prepared by MJO. Students take the booklet and letter home to show and discuss the options for July 2007 with parents.

Deadline : End of January 2007.  Option choices handed to MJO, using class lists. All students must make a choice by end of January

Groups for new courses
(Feb 2007)
These will be decided on the returns. The priority is that students obtain their choice, and that flexibility in teaching will be required for the new courses.

See above. The Applied course requires teachers to go beyond the traditional physics, chemistry and biology ‘roles’ . Depending on the choices of students, there might also be a need for (some) teachers to teach more than one ‘subject’ in the Additional science course.

Schemes of work
( May/June 2007)
The first five/six weeks will be required by July. Negotiation/arrangements will be made to release teachers to prepare schemes, after Year 11 have left.

ISAs
Examination entries. Planning and Organisation of the ISA week. Final entries to be given to science teachers for distribution, not form teachers. Consultation/organisation with Exam Officer for entries to AQA.

Intervention Strategies Year 10
Tracking of students.
Support/revision programmes.
Tracking students. Records of progress, including online records. Arrangement for revision lessons and organisation of specific intervention strategies. Identification of underachievers, and revised programs/activities for Gifted and Talented students.
