Since 2004/2005 increased SC1 provision is a top priority for all teachers at KS3 .
This is partly in response to the increased emphasis on SC1 at KS3 summative testing, and also to improve consistency of approach to this important area.

When carrying out practical activities the teachers focus on a specific SC1 area. The programme is such that during a given year, all areas of SC1 are developed.
Year 9 are issued with a set SC1 topic revision scheme .These are based on some of the booster, intervention material and other ideas. In Years 7 and 8, the SC1 teaching is based on the topics. During each rotation 1 week of lessons are used specifically for SC1 teaching.
